1. Nadal’s kit for 2011 Australian Open

So this is what Rafa will be wearing.

The shoes are awesome. Look a little too much like the breath cage ones people like Berdych are wearing, and they’ve lost some of the badass-ness of the 2.1/2/3s, but they look so comfortable. They look ridiculously durable too. I very much like, and if they bring them out in something other than red I will be buying some.

The shirt… Well, it’s all gone wrong hasn’t it. For a start, the fire red of the shirt on the aquatic blues of the Australian Open courts will look terrible. They had it bang on with the orange and pink, but red? Not right. Don’t get me started on the pattern. When I saw Djokovic’s Sergio Tacchini stuff had a celtic tattoo-esque pattern on I almost cried, now they’re done it to Rafa. Utterly terrible. It’ll be Roger next, with some huge winged beast printed on the back of his shirt. Bad times.

The shorts sound interesting, fabric and craftsmanship wise. They could have gone with a better colour than grey though. Grey is not a good colour for sweat, and no one wants to see a sweat patch on your arse. If they had gone with white it may have worked well on the blues, toned down the red a little, but nope.

All-in-all, a little disappointed. That’s two slightly crappy outfits for Nadal in a row, Nike…
